Water jet technology basically consists of a high pressure water jet stream, up to 60,000 psi, combined with a garnet abrasive producing a precise, clean cut. A water jet can perform functions that other technologies simply cannot. By using a water generated system, there is no heat involved in the cutting process. This eliminates the opportunity for distortion. There are no hazardous materials or vapors produced when a water jet is in use, providing a safe piece of equipment for both the environment and the user. A waterjet can produce smooth edges without burring. Due to the precise nature of this machine in conjunction with infinite toolpath nesting, there is very little loss of material. Products are produced efficiently and economically with unmatched accuracy.
Specifics of DSI Custom Fabrication's Waterjet Tables
DSI has (2) 72' x 144' waterjet tables. The units are constructed with linear motor drives, providing an ultimate smooth cut. The two tables are programmed with Mastercam and cut with +/- .001" accuracy. This high shut utilization allows for "infinite nesting" and can turn around a project in extraordinary time.
